People do use chat speak in the 'real' world though, clearly you do not get out enough. I cannot tell you how many times I've heard an 'oh em gee' or a 'double you tee eff' coming out of people mouths, its repulsive.

Regardless of it being a teens' chat area, I still don't want to look at it.

I mentioned "sensible person", right? People who use chatspeak in the real world aren't that sensible, for the most part. Unfortunately, as you said, there are plenty of those folks out there.

Yes, I do agree with that. People using chat speak in vocal conversation is very annoying, but I can guarantee you Greg was not sitting at his computer saying "Ex-Pe" out loud...Or sticking his tongue out. I also do not think if he was in a completely adult environment that he would type that in. I know it being a teen forum is no excuse to use constant chat speak, but come on... I believe this conversation only started because of him using one smiley in the first place...

Ehh, I'll use xP all I want to. Maturity is shown in the way you talk, it's not shown in the way you spell your words or what smileys you use. I mn ya if I tlkd lik ths evn n an intellignt debate its immature bt I dnt.
