Mac or Windows? Empty Mac or Windows?

Post by redrosekiss09 Wed Oct 01, 2008 10:57 am

Okay, so I'm starting a photography business in January/February. Before I start it I want to get my own laptop and not use this stupid school laptop. Soooo yea. I'm thinking about getting a Mac, because I think I would really like one. I've messed around on one a little bit and I've liked it so far. Sooo what do you all think? Mac or Windows Pc?

Mac or Windows? Empty Re: Mac or Windows?

Post by Guest Wed Oct 01, 2008 11:57 am

Any day of the week I'd recommend Windows, but... I'm hoping to get a Macbook here soon.
There are no viruses and stuff like that, and if you want to use Windows Applications, you can use "Q" or a Virtual Box with a Windows Installation Disc :D

So I'd say Mac.

Alienware is just a PC brand! Do you know anything about anything?

And I would have to say that Macs are, indeed, better for office applications. No viruses, quick, compatible with nearly every form of Hardware, and there is OpenOffice.org out for Mac. So The only thing PC's are really better at are Games, thank you sir.

Holy crap, quit being stupid. I'm saying that she asked "PC or MAC." Not, "Which brand of PC should I get". Please, stop being so ignorant.

I prefer Windows personally, but for what you want Mac might be better suited.

Mac's do have virus's, there are far, far, fewer though.

Macs are good for photography, editing, etc. PC's are good for school work and are far better for college classes and such.

I do not condone Dell laptops though, my boyfriend has had his new [over $1000] laptop for about 4 months and it appears to be about ready to show the blue screen of death.

Yeah, I hate dells.

Yeah, Mac's can get viruses, but the focus isn't on them because they are coded differently and are harder to make them, plus there's less mac users.

And dells... yeah, I hate dells. Hate them.

blarf, some of you guys ain't no hackers

"Macintosh" covers a whole range of products, from the Mac OS to PCs. "PC" just means "Personal Computer," so that could mean a lot of brand names.

You can't be talking about PCs, since Windows is an OS (Operating System). But you could mean a Mac or Windows OS.

Are you asking about the operating system on your computer or the actual computer (hardware) itself?

OH MY! Why does everything have to get into a debate?! I'm just wondering what kind of computer you suggest me getting. I mean I'm planning on getting a Mac. I just want to know if you all think that is a good idea or not. Like, if you think they are good and stuff.

Troy give the alien ware thing up. I really don't care, so you're just wasting time everytime you post about alien ware...

Mac or Windows? Empty Re: Mac or Windows?

Post by Guest Thu Oct 02, 2008 9:11 am

I think she means both.

You are only allowed to put OS X on an Apple branded and made computer.

Macs have different hardware that was, up until recently, made for the OS.

So Apple uses the Mac name for the line of computers, the actual computer, and the OS X is the operating system.

PC's are defaulted to Windows, because you can ONLY legally install OS X on an Apple Built computer. Of course, you can install Windows onto a Mac (either overtop or in Boot Camp) but you cannot legally install OS X on a PC.

So when people say Mac, they generally refer to the hardware and the OS X, because they can only be bought together.
When someone refers to PC, they mean anything but a Mac. Yes, troy, like Alienware. But Alienware is simply a PC brand, not a whole other class.

Whhen people mix up PC's and "Alienware"s makes me more mad than when people separate iPods and MP3 players. iPods ARE mp3 Players, stupid!!

Oh, and yeah, getting a Mac is a good idea.
If you have a windows installation disk, you can install windows to Boot Camp, and have the best of both OS's.
