Re: can you tell me a little bit more about ADD*NOW*PLEASE*
Only a doctor can diagnose AD(H)D, so beware if anyone who's not a doctor tells you that you have it.
And just because you can't concentrate or remember stuff doesn't mean that you have it, either.

http://www.helpguide.org/mental/adhd_add_signs_symptoms.htm
Great site. ^ Lists info, symptoms, positive aspects (just scroll down on the page), and more of ADD. I really suggest you guys read it.
I haven't been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, but I fall under more than half of the symptoms listed on multiple websites. I was shocked when I first realized that I could very well have ADD/ADHD, but after reading about it, arguing with online friends about it, etc, there's really not much to be shocked about.
Why do you want to tell the doctor? All they'll do is kill you will drugs an make it a lot worse.
People act like ADD/ADHD is a bad thing.
Wikipedia listed a few people, including Albert Einstein andGeorge W. Bush:

People with ADD can be very fun to be with! Some of the positive traits are:
Creativity – Daydreaming and attending to many different thoughts at once can be just the right trait for creative problem-solving. People with ADD are often excellent at brainstorming ideas. Because they do not choose which ideas to focus on too early, they are more open to considering all ideas, to engaging in divergent thinking. Such thinking allows for rare insights in such fields as art, music, and science. Creative thinking is especially useful to inventors, entertainers, comedians, and medical doctors.
Enthusiasm, spontaneity, liveliness, flexibility – Attending to a lot of thoughts at once can provide lively conversation for others who associate with the person with ADD.
Hyperfocus, high energy, tenacity and drive – If something is interesting to a person with ADD, there may be no way to distract them from the task! This is particularly true of interactive or hands-on activities.
Intelligence – Some people with ADD are extremely bright or gifted.

Re: can you tell me a little bit more about ADD*NOW*PLEASE*
i think that ADD is a state of mind everyone enters at some point in their life. Therefore, its very common. Some people just enter it more than once during their lifetime.

they are both disorders that only your doctor can diagasnose(sp). Just tell your mom or next time you go to the doctors and they ask if you have any concerns tell them that you are concerned about having ADD.

Re: can you tell me a little bit more about ADD*NOW*PLEASE*
I agree with Mr Pants. ADD is only a label for, as he said, "a state of mind everyone enters at some point in their life." Zillions of people have it, or show symptoms of having it, including everyone in my family that is around 6 to 20 years old. It's a way to complain about hyperactive, annoying, obnoxious kids like you and I. It's also a way for doctors and the government to make lots of money. Think about it--almost everyone has it. And it's not really such a bad problem, all it is is being a bit hyper, not concentrating on some things you should be concentrating on, and most people grow out of it by the age of nineteen. It happens around the time where you get a growth spurt and reach maturity. Isn't it just one of those stages in life?

Re: can you tell me a little bit more about ADD*NOW*PLEASE*
it also means you're not organized and you can't concentrate and there's nothing you can do about it .... and no, not everyone has it ... a lot of little kids are just very hyper ... so a lot of the symptoms are common but having all the symptoms at the same time isn't as common as that ... it's hard cause you can't do anything about being disorganized and you have to live with it and you can't help the everything is distracting

Re: can you tell me a little bit more about ADD*NOW*PLEASE*
Okay then, there are some people who have "real" ADD/ADHD (such as adults who have been diagnosed). I'm saying that ADD labels way too many people who are really just normal, because many people fall under more than half of the conditions.
I have ALL of those conditions that you just mentioned, and more. It's extremly hard for me to concentrate on just reading a small paragraph out of my Social Studies book. I can read it seven times over, finally understand it a bit, go to the next paragraph and completely forget everything about the previous paragraph I had just read. I often can't follow directions. I blurt words out when I shouldn't. I fidget. I'm almost always hyperactive. I'm somewhat "gifted." I love to just sit there and think. I day dream all the time. I'm great at brainstorming. I've invented lots of things and done some great works as a little kid. Lots of my thoughts always block out anything my brother says to me. And, I can do nothing to stop it.
My brother is starting to show the same conditions, now.
So maybe you do have a "real" case of ADD. Or maybe it's just normal and you're worrying too much. There are lots of positive aspects to it, though.

Re: can you tell me a little bit more about ADD*NOW*PLEASE*
i'm not worried about it ... it's not something that is bad .. and i know what you mean ... i do the same thing ... or i'll stare a quistion and go off to space and not even sure what i just did ...
SYMPTOMS OF ADD or ADHD:
Often fidgeting with hands or feet, or squirming while seated.
Having difficulty remaining seated.
Being easily distracted by extraneous stimuli.
_ Having difficulty awaiting turn in games or group activities.
_ Often blurting out answers before questions are completed.
_ Having difficulty in following instructions.
_ Having difficulty sustaining attention in tasks or play activities.
_Often shifting from one uncompleted task to another.
_ Having difficulty playing quietly.
_Often talking excessively.
_ Often interrupting or intruding on others.
_ Often not listening to what is being said.
_Often forgetting things necessary for tasks or activities.
_Often engaging in physically dangerous activities without considering possible consequences.
The ADD symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder and ADHD are further broken into three specific categories, each with its specific clinical presentation that better describes a child’s behavior.
These ADD symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder and ADHD categories are Inattentive Type (classic Attention Deficit Disorder), Hyperactive/Impulsive Type (classic Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) and Combined Type (a combination of inattentive and hyperactive).
Inattention ADD symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder:
_ often fails to give close attention to details.
_ often makes careless mistakes in schoolwork, work, or other activities.
_ often has difficulty sustaining attention in tasks or play activities.
_ often becomes easily distracted by irrelevant sights, sounds and extraneous stimuli.
_ often does not seem to listen when spoken to directly.
_often does not follow through on instructions and fails to finish schoolwork, chores, or duties in the workplace.
_ often has difficulty organizing tasks and activities.
_ often avoids tasks, such as schoolwork or homework, that require sustained mental effort.
_ often loses things necessary for tasks or activities, like school assignments, pencils, books, or tools.
_ often is forgetful in daily activities.
_ rarely follows instructions carefully and completely.
People with ADD symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder who are inattentive display difficulty keeping their mind on any one thing. They may get bored easily with a task and bounce to the next task, and the next task after that. Organizing and completing a task proves troublesome, though they may give undivided and effortless attention to activities and topics they enjoy. People with ADD symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder often find that focusing deliberate, conscious attention to learning something new is extremely difficult.
As a result, homework may be agonizing for people with the symptoms of ADD. They might forget to write down assignments or bring home the right books to complete the assignments. When doing homework, people with the symptoms of ADD typically find their minds drifting every few minutes.
Hyperactivity/Impulsive ADHD symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder:
_often fidgets with hands or feet or squirms in seat.
_ often runs, climbs or leaves seat in settings where remaining seated is expected.
_ often runs about excessively in situations in where it is inappropriate.
_ often has difficulty playing quietly in leisure activities.
_ is often "on the go" or often acts as if "driven by a motor."
_ often talks excessively.
_often blurts out answers before hearing the entire question.
_ often has difficulty awaiting turn or for a turn.
_ often interrupts or intrudes on others at school or work and at home.
- often feels and acts restless.

I'm somewhat of the opposite. I can concentrate obsessively for hour after hour on something I'm interested in. I never got in trouble for not paying attention in class. And I have a photographic memory- I can't watch violent movies w/o the images staying in my head for a long time and I don't need notes to remember everything in class.
In fact, I can sit down and tune even a jackhammer out if I have work to do! So there's no chance of me having ADD.

@ lullaby - I used that website that listed all of those symptoms to compare myself with. There's only like one symptom in that list that I don't have...
@ bluewaterlily - "I can concentrate obsessively for hour after hour on something I'm interested in..." Lol, that's actually a symptom of ADD. Sorry, I just had to point that out. I do the same...
