Re: Help?! Sweet 16 planning..
Are you gonna be on my Super Sweet Sixteen? ^.^ Haha, I would hope not.. because those girls are not too nice.
I wouldn't really even know where to begin to give you ideas for that big of a party, or else I would throw some out to you. But sorry.

Re: Help?! Sweet 16 planning..
I remember my advice post for my Sweet 16. =}
Well, it depends on what you want to do, but it looks like you already have that. I had a Beach themed party with a live band, but if you already have what you want to do, then I don't need to give suggestions for that.
Anyway. You'll want to make a guest list, definitely, and make sure you don't want to leave out anyone you do want to invite, and you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by not inviting them. I wouldn't reccomend having a party with 300+ People, because if that's only half of your Church, then there's a chance people's feelings could get hurt, but you know the situation better then me, so whatever you want to do it fine. =}
Then you'll want to make sure you have the food in order and everything, but normally parents do that. If you want it catered, make sure you get the caterer that you want, with the food you want. Since you have a while, you'll have plenty of time to find what you want, for around the price you want.
Then, you'll want to think about what kind of party you want. Like, if you want it formal, or casual, what you want people to wear, etc. The party is about you, so pretty much whatever you want goes.
Hmm. I think I covered the general stuff, but I'm sure more will come to me. If you need any other advice, feel free to ask. And if I think of something else, I'll let you know. Good luck.

Re: Help?! Sweet 16 planning..
Okay.
first off. Thank you for the Advice Starr it helped (:
secondly. Uhm i dont really think there will be a theme its basically like formal/casual (usually the youth come formal and the adults come casual) and a lot of dancing.
thirdly. The party will be January 3rd, i know kind of early to be planning and what not but i have to get everything worked out because i have people traveling anywhere from 2 hrs - a couple days to get here. (I have family that lives almost on the other side of the country)

Re: Help?! Sweet 16 planning..
Hmm...Okay. Well now. You are also going to have to throw in the uhm...thought I guess of it being in dead winter and there possibly being a bad storm. But don't let that frighten you.
Also, I think 300ish people is a LOT of people. I had about 150 people invited to mine and about 60-70 maybe a few more came to it. And it was a lot of people. If I could go back, I would do it way less because I didn't really have time to talk to everyone and missed saying goodbye to a lot of people.
Anyway, right now that's about all I have. But food is definitely a thing to think about. Because if 300 people were to come [which is not really normal because normally they tell you to plan for about 1/2 of the people you invite to come] that's a lot of people to feed. So you have to make sure that there is constantly food out.
Good luck!

Re: Help?! Sweet 16 planning..
Yeah, good point.. have a lot of fooood ^.^ People like food. The only way to keep 300 or so people from going crazy and trashing the building? FOOD! lol I dunno. Just being silly.
But I don't think you're planning too far ahead. For a party of that size, I think it's a good idea.
Haha, I had like.. 40 people at my sixteenth birthday party.. that was way more than enough for me. ;D It was really loud too.

Re: Help?! Sweet 16 planning..
well for my sisters partys theirs were in the summer so we had it in our yard (huge) Food probably wont be an issue. my mom and i have talked about opening our own catering business because we are always doing auctions, funerals, weddings, partys, ect..
300ish people isnt really alot but i am going through my list and taking people out who have stopped speaking to me and stuff like that.

Re: Help?! Sweet 16 planning..
Yeah, I mean whatever size you want your party to be is cool :]. I personally am not good in social situations with a lot of people. Hah, yeah, and taking off people who don't talk to you is a very good idea. Since it might be awkward to have them at your party.
That's good then, you got the food covered.

Oh no, I don't think that's early at all. Most Sweet 16's already have the invites sent out by now for them. I live in a rarely rural area and these types of things are fully settled at least 4 months before the date.
I would set the place where the event is going be held now. It's very possible they could get booked.
Re: Help?! Sweet 16 planning..
Yes, definitely. I agree with Daph. I was planning my sweet 16 the day after I turned 15. Literally.
Anywhoo, one thing I will warn you again about food, if you guys are doing the food it will be a hassle to keep food out and stuff while you are trying to also entertain your guests. But whatever you want.
