im pretty flexable with wat i pay as long as im paying for a good laptop
umm i prolly won't get it till next year around this time i just want to get a good head start
starr and adam: thanks for the advice i have looked at dells and macs from personal experiance my brother has a mac and loves it but i do know that their better computers are pretty pricy
Re: laptop for school
Okay, chelle, well I can't tell you which computer to buy yet because you're thinking a year ahead. Hell, in 3 years the laptop you buy now will be outdated. I can give you a general idea of Cash you should start saving up, though, which is probably around $1,200 for a decent laptop up to $2,000+ for a high performance laptop.

Re: laptop for school
I am getting a Mac in January. They are pricy, but you DO get a lot for what you pay, PLUS they are better computers. They last pretty long. They just revised the macbook and it's actually 100 dollars cheaper than it was! I was really happy with that. It's still $1000 though.
Re: laptop for school
i think i might be going twards a mac because i know they are the best but idk about the price that is the only downside to the mac
Re: laptop for school
the problem with macs is you cant install half the stuff you can for a pc the only thing macs work well for is photoshop and adobe
Re: laptop for school
Bulls***! Dad can run anything from microsoft office. Plus you can download XP onto your Apple as a second operating system to run the programs Apple couldn't by itself. It's also possible that the programs will work better on a Mac because, lets face it, there built way better. I don't see me getting the years out of an HP but a Mac you have a solid chance with.suicidecommandofan1 wrote:the problem with macs is you cant install half the stuff you can for a pc the only thing macs work well for is photoshop and adobe

Re: laptop for school
Somethings wrong with that. Dad's had his Macbook since December of 2005, his still works like new.suicidecommandofan1 wrote:a year later a mac is crap my dad has to use one for work and they need new ones every year

Re: laptop for school
get a cheap dell or something its not like your going to be creating buildings or anything and macs cost to much to use for school
Re: laptop for school
You pay more to get more. Sure you could get a PC...but.
1. PC have been very unrealiable for me. I've lost a couple weeks of LI because my PC stopped working, even though I got it working everytime it is still very stressful.
2. Mac are faster then PC's, plus more and more places are now able to talk to Mac's.
3. No system rollbacks or crashes! Dad's had a Mac since 2005 and has not had a computer crash, I had one in the first month. I normally have to rollback the computer to the previous day once a week due to problems.
So, you may pay more for a Mac, but:
1. You get more computer.
2. You suffer less headaches.

Re: laptop for school
but also if you wanna use it for pa cyber vc your screwed since macs dont support at&t
Re: laptop for school
I wouldn't know that but again I stress:
You can get an secondary operating system for you mac (there is an XP download for your Mac)
So, you could use the XP for your PC programs not supported by Apple, and use the Mac for everything else.
Kind of another reason I think Mac's are superior, do you see Windows supporting Apple programs anytime soon?
