Re: Marijuana Legality?
thats those of them that can get it if it was legalized we would see up in a ton of differant crimes and a up in death rate so if they are abusing it now why would they wanna legalize it so anyone can get there hands on it. make it hard for them to get it and everyone is happy

Re: Marijuana Legality?
I just like seeing what other people think.
Personally, I think it should be legalised. It would create more jobs and more revenue by taxing it. And it hasn't really been shown to cause any long term problems with the body. Sure there should be limits like being 18 to purchase and whatnot, but it seems ridiculous that we ban a plant that has been used medicinally for hundreds of years.

People will abuse anything. Alcohol is abused every day, as are the rights to own weapons.
I personally think if things like alcohol are legal, marijuana might as well be too. Just restricted, in a similar way as alcohol. Because the truth is, whether its legal or not, people who really want to use it are using it.

Maybe not with the body itself but what about the mind? There have been multiple studies of alcohol, smoking, and anything else that effects the body and/or mind, and it has had surprising results. Whether it was a person simply using it on occasion, or an all our addict, the studies show that it has a lot of effect on the brain itself. Parts of the mind that were originally active, we literally shut down, or essentially 'killed.' The picture of a 'healthy' brain has many different active zone, while those that have used anything mind/body altering, parts of their mind were shut down, and can not come back. Brain cells don't grow back if I recall correctly.

Re: Marijuana Legality?
Well of course there's mental things, as there is with literally anything. The withdrawal symptoms of pot are very similar to that of sugar withdrawal, for example.
Also, Marijuana is far less dangerous than alcohol or tobacco. Around 50,000 people die each year from alcohol poisoning. Similarly, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to tobacco smoking. By comparison, marijuana is nontoxic and cannot cause death by overdose. According to the prestigious European medical journal, The Lancet, "The smoking of cannabis, even long-term, is not harmful to health. ... It would be reasonable to judge cannabis as less of a threat ... than alcohol or tobacco." via

Re: Marijuana Legality?
So we can't form opinions about it because we're too young to use it? Since when is that logical?
Furthermore, if we're not old enough to use it, why are we old enough to help those who are harmed because of drugs, of which pot isn't one?
If you aren't going to talk in a... useful, educated manner, don't open the topic.

We can form opinions. That's just it; OPINIONS. Not facts. After all, since none of us have ever used it, we don't know the true effects from a drug user's point of view. And, since that point of view could probably leave a lot of us "speechless", it's better to not form an opinion untill its based on pure facts.
It depends what you mean by helped; as in "I'm going to encourage you through all this" type of help? Or as in "Pot is bad for you, but you can still use it; just not as much" type?
I'm trying not to be judgemental (after all, I'm definetly a lot younger than everyone here! XD), but that's just my idea; again, since I don't know a lot of people who have smoked it, and have never done it myself (duh!), it's probably just a opinion based on my beliefs, not solid facts, but there it is. =]

Well, I know people that have done it, as well as studies that have been done, surrenderforever.
Re: Marijuana Legality?
So do I, and from what I've heard, it only makes the mind worse. So, if you feel like everyone should just get high on pot, that's your idea.

I guess if you really think that people dieing from car accidents because they were high on pot isn't damaging, that could work....

Re: Marijuana Legality?
Eh. I'm gonna be walking in to fight for the losing side of this debate, it looks like. >.>
The chief reason I can come up with (this is mostly speculation, however) is the likelihood that if marijuana were to be legalized, other, more destructive drugs, would follow. Admittedly, my tendency to denounce government regulation is being ignored here, but I would really prefer not to see the legalization of crack/heroin/what have you. And I believe that pot legalization is a stepping stone towards that.
I will also note, in response to the car reference above, that (hopefully) there would be laws in place to prevent driving under the influence of marijuana, likely quite similar to the laws in place for alcohol.

Re: Marijuana Legality?
Except that even if there is laws againt drunk driving, people still drink while driving. The same could go for marijuana if it was legalized; there wouldn't really be anything to stop people from smoking it while driving.
Other than that, agree with everything you said. =]

Re: Marijuana Legality?
Well, I imagine that people already drive high. It's just the number of crimes being committed that is in question.
And thanks for agreeing. =D

Re: Marijuana Legality?
The whole snowball effect thing is moot. Studies have shown that tobacco is more of a gateway drug than marijuana.
As for the car thing, I agree. Of course there would be laws against it, as there already are. DUI's actually can be charged if the person is high.

Re: Marijuana Legality?
Well time to add my real reply.
I think it should. for one, it would give more people jobs. So what, more people would be getting addicted like any other drug. but we can still teach kids and well really anyone to never use it etc.
Now flame me ^_^
