Agreed, I like it when people spell things right too. : D Although occasionally people spell a few things wrong and you just gotta deal with it. But, people could maybe try a little harder to spell things correctly.

I don't mind people who spell wrong because I'm friends with smart people (no offense or stereotype intended) so it balances me out.

How does this make an sort of sense?

You're friends with smart people so it's okay if people aren't watching their spelling? Shouldn't you be more concerned with spelling because of it?

If you're going to correct a persons spelling who in general isn't that great at it, you're going to get a negative reaction. They're going to look at you as very condesending, will probably assume you're degrading them as a person and will hate you/say they don't care (so they're not going to try to better their spelling)/purposely choose to put little effort into their spelling because they know it annoys the heck out of you and they can get revenge.

If you don't mind not getting anywhere and being disliked, be my guest.

You make a good point. I don't think you should have to never correct a person's spelling, but sometimes it's just not going to get anywhere. Besides, it can be entertaining when people spell things wrong, and you can just laugh about it (lightheartedly, that is). On the other hand, when posts are illegible, that is a little bothersome. But, life goes on.
